Artificial intelligence (AI) to act as a catalyst in India's development journey and help realise goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047, said Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday.
Central government using AI to redefine the way it works, Goyal said at an event.
He cited the example of the Unified Logistics Interface Platform (ULIP), which is leveraging AI to improve the entire logistics ecosystem of the country.
"Make in India initiative juxtaposed with AI technology, will enable India to become the factory of the world," the minister added.
He said that AI is used to effectively distribute food to the poor under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana (PMGKY), monitor the performance of fair-price shops and help map the needs of the poor.
Goyal also urged young minds to explore new ways of harnessing AI technologies for empowering society.
