Idea Sultan is a joint initiative of Business World Disrupt and DesiredWings.com to provide Start-ups a platform to Pitch their ideas/start-ups at the India’s Biggest Platform for Start-ups i.e. August Fest and explore possibility to launch their Crowdfunding Campaigns. This will be an on the spot pitching competition wherein the best of the ideas will be chosen amongst the entries received and will be made to pitch at the August Fest in Hyderabad.

Crowdfunding is becoming an increasingly popular way to raise capital for start-ups. Whether coming up with a new product or a new initiative, Crowdfunding is the key mantra to gauge eyeballs and generate awareness. Crowdfunding helps start-ups in 3 aspects: Product Validation, Raise Funds bypassing the Traditional Gatekeepers and Creating a Marketing Blitz.

PROCEDURE

1. Interested candidates have to submit the Entry forms to apply.
2. Based on the applications, we will shortlist 20 applicants.
3. The shortlisted 20 applicants have to appear for Skype Interview.
4. Based on the Video Interviews, we will select 10 applicants who will get to pitch their start-ups/idea at the August Fest.
5. All the candidates who pitch their ideas/start-ups at the August Fest and are interested to Crowd fund their campaigns will be entitled to the Benefit Sets

ELIGIBILITY

1. The Start-up must be at least 3 months into business
2. The representatives pitching the idea must be the founders
3. Ideas and concepts deemed by the Desiredwings team to be fake, insecure, offensive, immoral or unethical will not be screened and will be disqualified
4. The hosting team of Desiredwings and BW Disrupt has the sole discretion to disqualify and/or remove any individual or teams for any reason that it deems appropriate before and/or during the pitch competition for violation of these rules.
5. All decisions regarding an individual’s or team’s removal and/or disqualification from the pitch competition will remain final.

PITCH GUIDELINES

Objective:

The objective of pitching is to simply define the idea or concept by explaining your concept, or initiative, or product, or service in short duration of time (~approximately 2 minutes)

NOTE: This is not a “sales pitch” competition. The advisors want to see passion and energy from the person or the team pitching, please DO NOT try to “sell” the product or service, but understand the value proposition of the idea/concept/ initiative.

Introduction:

It is always recommended to open the pitch with an interesting note or statement that spikes he interest of the advisors and the audience. Follow the statement by showing how it relates to your concept or idea. Keep the audience’s attention alive. If there is no observable passion about the idea or concept, chances are advisors and audience might not seek interest in it either.

Pitch:

Remember, the pitch is a simple summary of your concept or initiative i.e the product or service, and how is it helping the people around. Within the given time limit it should cover the following:

i. Story behind the idea/concept/initiative
ii. Why do you think it can make a difference to the lives of the people around?
iii. How will you market your idea/concept and make people believe in it?
iv. Why do you want to crowdfund it?
v. What if it does not gets funded?
vi. How much money you intent to raise and how do you wish to utilize the raised funds?

Other Guidelines:

The use of PowerPoint or slide presentations is not allowed at IDEA-SULTAN. Individuals or teams can display/ share/ show their prototype, samples, images or posters. Materials may not be distributed to the advisors or the audience during the pitch.

CONFIDENTIALITY

Confidentiality is not guaranteed in any way. Do not include confidential material in your submissions. There is no way for IDEA-SULTAN or its organisers to enforce a prohibition of other participants, audience members, or advisors who see and hear a pitch competitor’s materials from sharing the idea and/or materials.
