Tuplejump works in storing, processing and visualising big data with its own unique software.
Two cofounders of the startup, Rohit Rai and Satyaprakash Buddhavarapu are now a part of Apple corporation while a third cofounder, Deepak Alur has decided to go with Anaplan, a cloud-based platform enabling business planning for sales, operation and finance.
Following the announcement the Tuplejump website has been shutdown; specifics of the deal have not been publicized either.
Tech media outlets have been abuzz with the news today. Tech Crunch makes further note that Apple is on an ML company buying streak. Apple recently also purchased two other startups in a similar domain, Perceptio and Turi.
"Apple buys smaller technology companies from time to time, and we generally do not discuss our purpose or plans," a company spokesperson intimated to Tech Crunch, reports Business Insider.
The value proposition of Tuplejump appears to have been “FiloDB”. It’s an open source project aiming for efficient application of ML concepts to complex sets of data.
The techies at Tuplejump are well versed in open source big data tools like Apache Spark processing engine, Apache NoSQL database, and Apache Kafka, which is a high-throughput, distributed, publish-subscribe messaging system, according to Venturebeat.
The highly technical news report added, "Tuplejump also built an open source search indexing system called Stargate that works with data stored in Cassandra and relies on the fundamentals of the Apache Lucene full-text search software."
This May, during his visit to India, Apple CEO Tim Cook had announced Apple’s first development centre in Hyderabad dedicated to Apple Maps.
