Food safety officials inspected a Zomato Hyperpure warehouse in Kukatpally on 29 October 2024, discovering violations despite the presence of necessary licenses and certificates. The food safety department in Hyderabad is intensifying inspections of food establishments, revealing serious issues at sweet shops, momo outlets, and shawarma units as Diwali approaches.
The Hyperpure warehouse, part of Zomato's supply chain for the hospitality industry, was found operating under a valid State License, with medical fitness certificates for food handlers and pest control records available. However, the task force identified significant issues, including 18 kilos of button mushrooms that were improperly labelled with a packing date of 30 October 2024, after the real date.
Premises were found open directly to the outside environment without a proper insect-proof screen said the Commissioner of Food Safety adding that houseflies were observed inside the premises
This follows earlier inspections, such as the raid on a Blinkit warehouse in June, where officials uncovered unsanitary conditions, expired items, and potential infestations. Authorities indicated that notices will be issued, and further action will be taken based on the findings.
