About two weeks before the monumental, historical presidential election of the US, Tinder, one of the most popular dating apps in the world launched Swipe the Vote in 16 countries.
The whole world was watching, weighing in – and swiping. And, now the results are in.
Tinder said of its findings:
“Millions of swipes later, Tinder users have matched with one clear winner: Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. As Tinder users weighed in on taxes, gun control, immigration, education and more, the majority in every country matched with Clinton. In Russia, however, 71% of users said they would vote for Trump – despite 76 per cent of them matching with Clinton’s views on the issues.
Interestingly, a whopping 96% of female voters in India matched with Hillary Clinton.” This was especially true as the dating app reports Indian women sided with Hillary on issues of ‘Girl Power’ and women’s issues.
Other insights from the global poll except the US say about the Hillary vs. Donald showdown that 80 per cent of users matched with Hillary Clinton, and 20 per cent of users matched with Donald Trump, based on the issues. 73 per cent of users from the countries polled said they would vote for Hillary Clinton and 27 per cent would vote for Donald Trump.
According to Tinder, ‘Swipe the Vote’, launched in partnership with Rock the Vote, became one of the largest global polls of millennials in history. The ‘Swipe the Vote’ poll surveyed users in the U.S., Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, France, Germany, India, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Russia, Spain and the U.K.
