World Health Weekend List: Entrepreneurs Share Their Health Mantras

Rahul Garg, Founder, Moglix

I believe that a very important part of staying healthy is taking a conscious decision to be optimistic. In today's scenario of competitiveness business, a positive mindset is essential to survive the storm.

It is important for every leader to strike a healthy work-life balance. With this in mind I do take out time to engage in sports such as badminton and table tennis. Another essential practice is to share a lighter moment with colleagues once in a while. We at Moglix believe in carving a flexible and comfortable work space for ourselves where people come together over lunches and coffee breaks.

Active family time with my wife and kids is also very important for me to de-stress.

I'm a big fan of the 7-minute workout, which is falls under HICT (High Intensity Circuit Training) category. It exercises every major muscle group in the body. It doesn't require any equipment, and can be done in the comfort of your home or hotel room.

Ghulam Mohiuddin, Managing Director, The Grand Dragon Ladakh

Even at the age of 56, I am a very active and enthusiastic about the hotels I manage. My health mantra is to drive less and try and walk more; to have a daily, healthy breakfast bowl of Sattu (Sattu is a Ladakh dish and means roasted barley). A healthy breakfast keeps me healthy and energetic, and the final piece of the mantra is to avoid sitting at the computer for too long. It’s really not advisable, so give those legs of you’re the occasional stretch.

Atul Pratap Singh, Founder, V Spark Communications

Living the life of an entrepreneur takes a huge toll on your health. During long days of work and irregular schedules, it’s difficult to find time to exercise or plan a healthy meal. However, it’s extremely important to make a healthy lifestyle a priority, especially for entrepreneurs.

You’ll find that maintaining a healthy lifestyle will improve your mood, productivity, energy levels, and happiness. I meditate every morning to keep my mind calm and at peace to maintain a healthy mind. I also play sports like badminton to maintain physical fitness. Eating healthy is very important to maintaining a good metabolism rate and that really helps me be active and energetic at work.

Tanmay Garg, Cofounder, FooDrool

I feel we should keep ourselves healthy from inside out. Being a food-tech entrepreneur, I have to explore different types of cuisines at different places for my customers. At the same time, I need to take care of my health and mind.

I believe physical exercise is the most important aspect for to keep the body healthy. One should either go to the gym or spend at least 20 minutes daily for walk/jogging. I for one hate missing my gym routine.

To get your body in shape you don’t have to stop eating food; never deprive yourself of good food. This is the worst you can do to your body is to give up on nutrition. It is always advisable to have food every hour in smaller quantity. Also, while working, people get wired in and work for hours while sitting at the same place. This can make one's body lethargic and dull. Make sure to avoid this habit by moving from one position to another at regular intervals. I would just say eat healthy and drink healthy to keep yourself fit and hydrated.

Avi Arya, Founder, Internet Moguls

Your health is directly correlated to your balance sheet. While parading towards success, entrepreneurs often don’t give priority to their health and let it take a backseat. In the hustle and bustle of growing competing to reach the top, we forget to take care of our health. Thus, it is very important to strike a balance between health and work.

The three healthy habits which I follow to maintain the balance are:

Exercising – A strict workout regime of 60 minutes daily where I started from 5 push-ups and now I am able to do 100 push ups (with breaks) in one month.

Healthy eating habits – These will keep your mind and body very fit and lively, so I make sure I eat a lot of fruits, salads and low-calorie.

Jogging – It’s another ritual that I keep to every morning with my dogs; it’s therapeutic for me to spend time with them.
