Encourage Young Minds To Be Job Creators, Not Job Seekers: Piyush Goyal

Goyal expresses sadness over the lack of willingness among successful startups to participate in international delegations

The Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, unveiled Bhaskar, a digital platform aimed at strengthening India’s startup ecosystem. Minister Goyal believes the platform will help the world recognise the innovation and curiosity of Indian minds, who continuously develop new ideas and methods of work.

To create a robust system, the minister suggested setting up a Section 8 company that could be managed with tight budgets and minimal staffing. This would ensure that the company remains nimble, industry-led, and capable of protecting trade secrets while sharing the right amount of information.

He added, "As the Prime Minister has said, we are shaping our policies with an eye on the future rather than the past. I believe this is the strength of Startup India—your strength and your contribution to India’s growth story. We may be 1.4 lakh today, but the more we encourage young minds to become job creators instead of job seekers, and the more we encourage Indians of any age to view failure as a stepping stone to a better and brighter future, the more we can support their success."

Goyal expressed sadness over the lack of willingness among successful startups to participate in international delegations. He said, “I feel sad that many successful startups are not willing to be part of international delegations, as it offers a great opportunity to connect. Every visit may not be a success story, but you never know—one visit and one business card exchange could be a game changer and change your destiny.”

“We should aspire to go further, even to the point of developing our silicon,” the minister said. He added, “While I know Bangalore prides itself on being the Silicon Valley of India, I believe it's time to think bigger. Perhaps we could create an entire township dedicated to entrepreneurs, startups, innovators, and disruptors—people with ground-breaking ideas. Can we envision a society or township spanning 200, 100, or even 500 acres?"

Let The Startups Improvise Bhaskar

He encouraged startups to look outward and consider international opportunities, mentioning that unicorns are particularly well-positioned to become global players in various sectors. He added, "It’s not just fintech or space that should look outward. I believe every sector you’re involved in holds tremendous opportunity."

The Bharat Startup Knowledge Access Registry (BHASKAR) initiative, under the Startup India program, is designed to centralise, streamline, and enhance collaboration among key stakeholders in the entrepreneurial ecosystem, including startups, investors, mentors, service providers, and government bodies. Additionally, this new company will support individuals seeking mentors or financial backing.

With key features such as networking and collaboration, centralised access to resources, personalised identification, enhanced discoverability, and support for India’s global brand, Bhaskar unites, embodies, and paves the way for a brighter, more innovative future.
