JetSynthesys Private Limited has launched ‘Garage’, a unique infrastructure based concept that offers to provide a perfect eco-system for start-ups. Inspired by the fact that some of the world’s largest companies today - Google, Apple, Amazon, Microsoft and Disney all started out in rented garages, the first ‘Garage’ facility was today inaugurated at the Sun Mills Compound at Lower Parel in Mumbai. It is modelled on the very successful Silicon Valley style of co-working spaces and is developed by JetLabs, the accelerator division of Pune based JetSynthesys Private Limited.
Commenting on the concept after inaugurating ‘Garage’, JetSynthesys Non-Executive Chairman, Kris Gopalakrishnan said, “To succeed, start-ups need a holistic ecosystem - from mentors to capital, from technology to design, from market access to legal and HR support and from learning to an inspired workplace. That’s what we have tried to build through Garage and JetLabs."
Describing ‘Garage’; Rajan Navani, VC, MD and CEO of JetSynthesys said, “It is a co-working space ideal for entrepreneurs that takes collaboration to a new level with creators, innovators and passionate learners. Having a capacity of about 170 seats, ‘Garage’ will also work with digital transformation teams of large Indian traditional businesses. Building innovation within such companies is always a challenge and JetLabs with its 30-member expert team, based in Mumbai and Silicon Valley will co-create next gen digital products and services with them. Further, Garage will also house small teams from large internet businesses making it a very unique collaborative workspace that provides infrastructure, allied services, training and networking events, mentoring sessions, meetups with VCs and leading technology capabilities so that the members of the start-up community can completely focus on doing what they love and quickly grow into larger, sustainable businesses."
"Garage provides you space in the heart of Mumbai, a synergizing community and best-in-class services to help foster your growth into pure excellence" said Sidharth Rao, President JetLabs.
JetSynthesys has already invested over USD 3 million in creating this first ‘Garage’ facility and several start-ups that are being accelerated through JetLabs.
About 10 start-ups, which have been incubated, accelerated or invested in by JetLabs and JetVentures in India or Silicon Valley, have started using this facility including SONICJOBS (a real time platform to connect part time jobseekers with employers in London in bars, pubs and restaurants), HAPPIE – Haste Raho (Indian Multilingual humour app and website), PRETMODE (Online pre-loved fashion destination), TAPHEAL (online medical consultation portal and app), THE GOOD SIZE (Online plus size fashion store), CLINITO (Healthcare marketplace), MURGENCY (Mobile app for quick medical assistance), MEZI (your personal AI assistant), TOK.TV (connecting global sports fans around real time events) and LOANZEN (peer to peer business loan market).
