In times where gender gap in the startup scene has ceased to exist, these women led startups are keeping their growth curve healthier than ever.
1. Wingreens Farms
What began with only 4 representatives has developed into a network of 1,200 individuals one fourth of them being women. Wingreens Farms Private Limited, founded by 58-year-old Anju Srivastava, is a multi-category business that spans spreads, sauces, mayonnaise, tea and pita chips. What separates this startup from others in the business is its social impact and the backend model which primarily helps women and farmers lead a financially secure life. In the past 5 years the business has developed from Rs.5 crore to over Rs.100 crore in annual revenue. With presence in 200 urban dwellings across India, the startup aims to grow 10 folds over the next 4-5 years.
2. Onco. Com
She was manager at Biocoin when a family member was diagnosed with cancer, exposing her to hardships suffered by cancer patients. Drawing inspiration from the incident, in 2017 Rashie Jain and Dr. Amit Jotwani founded Onco, an end to end cancer care platform. Onco’s operations are spread across 13 countries including Nigeria, Kenya, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka ,Eastern Europe and over 3000 patients utilizing the platform ever month. The Bengaluru-based startup, with over 150 cancer specialists from India and US , 1500 oncologists and 500 cancer hospitals as partners further plans to expand its customer base and scale up operations globally.
3. Sproutlife Foods Pvt. Ltd.
Despite no background and training in the FMCG sector and an aim of changing the snacking habits of people, Yoga Bar was founded in 2015 by sisters Suhasini and Anindita Samapth as a company that makes energy snack bar from natural ingredients. Since the time it was set up, the company has seen consistent growth in its numbers and has a presence in almost 800 stores across India. The company was chosen for creating a whole new FMCG category with its health bars and for scaling up its retail presence and touching Rs. 1 crore in monthly revenue run rate last quarter.
