Edtech company Unacademy is making significant changes at the leadership level, including the recent promotion of Arooshi Singh from Director of People Experience and Culture to Chief People Officer. Chief executive officer (CEO) and co-founder Gaurav Munjal unveiled this in a Slack message, expressing excitement over Singh’s promotion after over seven years with the company.
Singh will take over from Sandhydeep Purri, who was appointed Chief People Officer in November 2023. Having started her journey at Unacademy as a junior staff member focused on employee wellness, Singh has since played a key role in various HR functions.
This promotion marks the third such announcement from Unacademy in 2024. Earlier in January, Jagnoor Singh was named Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Unacademy Centres, and last month, Abhishek Pipara was promoted to chief financial officer (CFO) for the offline business.
Over the past year, Unacademy has experienced several senior leadership departures, including a co-founder. Notable exits include Chief Operating Officer Vivek Sinha in August 2023, Group CFO Subramanian Ramachandran in October, and co-founder and CTO Hemesh Singh in June.
Additionally, Unacademy recently released its financial results for the fiscal year ending March 2024. While revenue remained stable at Rs 988 crore, the company successfully reduced its losses by an impressive 62 per cent.
