As Businesses Close Down, Ezetap, Mosambee Visualize Sharp Drop in Demand

Ezetap, Mswipe Technologies, Innoviti Payments and Mosambee, the digital payment startups in a point-of-sale (PoS) space, are visualizing a sharp slowdown in demand owing to the supply chain disruptions during the ongoing lockdown, making it difficult to deliver existing orders and fresh sales.

While most of their clients have either closed their business or operating with a limited work with some of them putting orders on hold. Some companies are also experiencing difficulties in procuring devices from China and other countries. Ezetap, with their devices being stuck in transit from China, is unable to clear their pending order said, “China has slowly started opening up but the devices aren't reaching us due to customs and clearance issues. Even internally, in India, the logistics problems continue.” 

Sameer Chugh, Co-founder, Mosambee, said, “In April, no new sales have happened because of shut shops and mobility restrictions. The impact of the drop in demand will be seen in May and June. Once our teams are out on the field, we expect new orders to pick up and this uptick will be visible around end June or July.”

Rajeev Agrawal, CEO Innoviti, a company which gets 25-30% of its revenue from deployment of PoS devices said, “The new order book is dependent on how large enterprises restart the business. For one quarter, we don't expect new orders and close the existing order book at best. Manish Patel, CEO Mswipe, a point-of-sale platform which brings small-time traders within the digital payments fold, said, “We will have to wait  and watch how the government opens up the economy.”
