De-Tabooing Tracking

Vikram Kumar moved to the UK when he was 25. He’s back home and when he meets anyone who has used the LetsTrack app, they greet him like he’s Shahrukh Khan. For every one person that uses LetsTrack, 11 people are referred to do the same.

Kumar, managing director of LetsTrack Limited, set out in February 2015 not to build a tracker, but a means to ensure safety, happiness, and productivity.

“People hear the word ‘tracking’ and start getting wary. We are not a vehicle tracking company. We are a solutions provider. We listen, we suggest, and then we develop customized solutions to solve problems and improve productivity,” says Kumar.

One day Liberty shoe stores realized they were rewarding the wrong employees. There was one agent who was great at his job so he would sit at work and hit all his targets. Great. He was Liberty’s salesperson of the year. Then there was another salesman who put in all the legwork, sweating out all the field visits. He worked hard, but he didn’t quite hit all the targets. He was incredibly unhappy and unappreciated.

The mischievous high performer’s tricks and the diligent worker’s behavioral patterns only came to light after Liberty started using LetsTrack. It increased the already high performing employee’s productivity by 200 per cent while the diligent employee increased productivity by 100 per cent. Now both are rewarded accordingly. Liberty managed to increase sales by 50 per cent. Productivity and happiness delivered as promised.

Kumar is confident about LetsTrack’s capabilities. The app technology has been developed over two and a half years. But the work to make the app better never stops. In-app there are around 50 features leveraging IoT and sharpened by a wealth of user data the app analyzes in real time using AI. They have applied for a patent in the US for their usage of AI to know when a passenger leaves the vehicle and has reached their end destination.

“It took only two minutes for the life of an executive from a famous e-commerce company to change. She was nabbed when she was just two minutes away from reaching her father. Imagine if that young girl had had something like LetsTrack; we could have routed her whereabouts immediately to the police station and the perpetrators could have been stopped in time.”

It’s already called one of the fastest growing companies in the world and Kumar is taking LetsTrack to the US by end 2017 or early 2018.

The company took a giant business leap by collaborating with renowned names in the automotive industry like BMW, JSB Group, Globe Toyota and RD Overseas. Right now LetsTrack is a family of more than 20,000 happy trackers and over 1,000 retailers with 200 retailers added monthly.

They are present in over 490 towns and villages covering more than 1,000 pin codes in India. Come March 2018, Vikram is expecting to clock $1 million of revenue a month.

“It’s too soon to talk about a legacy that we may have built, but I know LetsTrack has created a paradigm shift in how tracking is seen as a sign of distrust.”

Kumar is confident. “If someone like a Reliance Jio or Airtel could put in a billion dollars to start raising awareness for tracking solutions, you will realize how much better ours is than anybody else’s out there.”
