Early Stage Venture Capital Fund Ankur Capital Invests Rs 60 Lakh in Suma Agro

Early stage venture capital fund Ankur Capital which is bullish on agri-tech has invested Rs 60 lakh funding in a Suma Agro, a Chennai-based sustainable agro-input company.

As per Rema Subramanian, Partner at the fund, the Rs 40-crore fund has three more investments in the pipeline — one in a cold storage company and the other two in agriculture inputs and healthcare, as per ET report.

Earlier the company had taken investment bets on companies like CropIn, a cloud-based farm management systems company, home compost solutions provider Daily Dump and primary eye-care service provider ERC.

Mobile App Distiman in Talks to Raise $5M in Series A Funding

Distiman, makers of a mobile app that allows mom and pop stores to procure stocks on-demand, is in talks with venture capital funds to raise $5 million.

The app is managed by Bangalore-based Mobisy Technologies Pvt. Ltd., and was one of the seven startups selected by Microsoft Ventures for their global accelerator program this summer. The firm had raised seed funding from Ojas Ventures in 2013.

Distiman aims to utilize the funding to reach out to 10,000 retailers, as reported by DealStreetAsia. The Indian offline retail industry is worth $500 billion, with about 18 million retailers.

Delhi Based PC Jeweller Raising $38M from Fidelity

Delhi-based jewellery retailer PC Jeweller Ltd is raising Rs 257 crore($38.2 million) from US-based investment firm Fidelity to support its expansion through small sized and franchised stores.

This is the second private funding for the firm to fuel its expansion plan this year. It had earlier raised Rs 427 crore ($64 million then) from an existing investor DVI Fund.

As per VCCircle report, the company intends to come up with eight to 10 small sized stores in cities including Delhi, Dhanbad and Bhubaneshwar this financial year.

Messaging and Voice API Company Route Mobile Acquires Cellent Technologies

Messaging and voice API (application programming interface) company Route Mobile Ltd has acquired Mumbai-headquartered Cellent Technologies,as per VCCircle report.

Cellent Technologies, part of the Goel Group, has a presence in the application to person (A2P) messaging markets of the Middle East and Africa. It has a team of over 30 people and claims to have more than 250 customers.

“We are making strategic acquisitions to strengthen our presence in markets globally as well as to offer a wider set of products and services to our customers. This is our first such acquisition and we are delighted to have Cellent’s team and customers join the Route Mobile family,” Rajdip Gupta, CEO of Route Mobile told VCCircle.
