FM Appeals PSBs To Give Easy Loans To Kisan Credit Card Holders

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has appealed to public sector banks to give easy loans to Kisan Credit Card (KCC) holders to increase the income of the villagers.

Continuous efforts are being made by the central government to increase the income of the farmers. In this, through the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, more than 10 crore eligible farmers are given Rs 6000 annually. This amount is given in three installments of Rs 2,000 each. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has given guidelines to banks keeping in mind the economic condition of the farmers.

The Finance Minister had a long conversation with the Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of public sector banks a few days ago. During this, she had asked to help the Regional Rural Banks in upgrading the technology.

After the meeting, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Minister Purushottam Rupala had told that the Finance Minister reviewed the Kisan Credit Card Scheme (KCC Yojana) during this period. At the same time, he considered how institutional credit could be made available to the farmers. Minister of State for Finance Bhagwat K Karad had told that the meeting was chaired by the Finance Minister and discussions were held on issuing KCC to people engaged in fishing and dairy sector.

Rupala also informed that in another session it was decided on Regional Rural Banks that sponsor banks should help in digitisation and technology improvement. Regional rural banks play an important role in agriculture loans.
