For The Love Of Sports

SportsYari is a platform that brings together sports enthusiasts of all likes, from players, and experts to fans in an interactive community, says founder Shushant

Founded in 2021 by Shushant Mehta, the digital media platform SportsYari embarked on a journey to bring together people who share a love for sports. It created a space for all sports enthusiasts, be they seasoned athletes, casual players, or those looking to explore new sports, where they could connect, learn and thrive.

Mehta, who is also the chief executive officer (CEO) of the venture, intends SportsYari to be a   leading online hub for everything related to sports. SportsYari aims to inspire and empower people to adopt a healthier, more active lifestyle through their passion for sports. Shushant Mehta envisions a world where sports catalyses personal growth, community building and holistic well-being.

SportsYari differentiates itself from competitors through its comprehensive coverage of sports, ranging from popular mainstream sports to niche games. It is community-driven, connecting like-minded individuals who share their experiences and celebrate victories ‒ big or small ‒ together. The website offers expert articles, tips, and insights. The interactive platform enables sports enthusiasts to engage in discussions, participate in polls and share their own stories.

Mehta says the platform stands on four pillars, namely comprehensive coverage of sports, being community driven, interactive and the expert insights it offers. He describes these four attributes as the originality factor of the platform. “We also, take pride in the fact that we have, an eclectic choice of speakers ‒ from rural India to urban India. We have all sorts of speakers, and we give a platform for young people. Most of our, anchors and presenters and even the back-end team are freshers. Where we stand out is, (in the fact) that all our content is straight from the heart and from the heartland.”

Mehta says the platform’s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) margins have been more than 50 per cent. Talking of his vision for the future, Mehta says he dreams of venturing into leagues. “Right now, we are strictly a digital media company, but we also want to venture, into leagues,” says the SportsYari founder, adding “So, we want to be a universe where we are playing cricket, reporting on cricket, watching cricket, and, delivering all sorts of content on cricket.”

Sports has the power to unite people, break barriers, and create lasting memories. SportsYari has a unique opportunity to foster a positive and inclusive sports culture. This responsibility goes beyond the digital space, as it can actively support initiatives that enhance accessibility to sports for everyone, reaching even the most underserved communities.
