GPS is an AD (anaerobic digestion) technology firm based out of Bangalore. Founded by Mainak Chakraborty and Sreekrishna Sankar, alumni of IIM – B, in the year 2012, GPS renewables is solving the urban organic waste management problem in an environmentally clean way while also making economic sense.
GPS’ core product, The BioUrja is a feedstock agnostic AD plant that can process any kind of biodegradable material to generate energy in the form of methane. The BioUrja is arguably the world’s most efficient and most compact AD solution, making it the most relevant solution for urban areas
The BioUrja is the first Internet of Things in the bioenergy space. GPS’ proprietary cloud based plant health monitoring system ensures <1% plant downtime at minimal operational expenditure, without the need for any operations and maintenance staff onsite
Biourja was conceptualised to enable every bulk waste generator to have an economically viable waste treatment solution of their own. This system is 2 times faster and twice as efficient than any other BioCNG system. The high speed digestion mechanism of BioUrja system helps to generate more biogas per day therefore resulting in more savings for the clients. This pre fabricated system is extremely compact, utilizes minimal space and can co exist in any urban location.
Unlike traditional solutions, Biourja suite is a complete solution consisting of an input system with shredders, a gas storage system, sludge de-watering system and gas piping to the kitchen along with burners, making the transition for the customer hassle free.
The GPS Biourja system is currently being sold in India, Bangladesh, Japan, USA and Malaysia. GPS’ clientele includes prominent names like Akshaya Patra Foundation, Infosys, Manipal University, BITS Pilani, TVS and many more. The Biourja system has been adopted across customer segments as a reliable solution for waste management as well as cooking fuel replacement.
