The InnovationBhubaneshwar-based (capital of Indian state of Orissa) Fabonix Technologies has developed a sustainable and viable temperature control equipment which produces a refrigerating effect inside buildings such as houses and shops, all using solar and wind energy accessible at the roof top. The green innovator start-up was founded in 2013. The green innovation company designs, develops as well as sells products of societal values.
“We try to blend technology, creativity, engineering and innovations to solve problems from industries to households,” claimed Dhiraj Choudhary, CEO and Managing Director of Fabonix Technologies.
How does it work?Using a power cycle (Rankine cycle) solar energy, the technology powers a compressor directly coupled with a gas turbine and the wind turbine through a variable coupler (CVT) with the same shaft. As there is no conversion of mechanical work into electricity, storing of electricity in batteries and again converting it through a motor to mechanical energy to run a compressor is eliminated. This results in -
• Zero intermittent energy loss
• Low installation and maintenance costs
• Elimination of air pollution from ACs
The Impact-• The green innovation rids the environment of air pollution caused by refrigeration and ACs
• Makes use of renewable sources of energy; allowing a brand new and viable addition to the alternative energy mix
• Innovation will lower energy consumption and thus release the stress on power generation and fossil fuels
When asked how else Fabonix proposes to reduce carbon footprint, Dhiraj replied: “We are concerned about the environment and are developing technologies to keep the environment clean and safe. We plan to come up with more innovation aimed at harnessing other sources of renewable energy.”
The green innovator is one of a growing number of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) which are dedicatedly developing green technologies that are environmentally safe through harnessing diverse sources of energy such as solar power, sea waves, wind energy, even human body energy and build a number of products including efficient solar panels or creating clean and green biofuels.
“This way we can cut down on our carbon footprint and also reduce the pressure on non-renewable sources of energy. All kinds of automation leads to reduced emissions as is evident by this innovation,” said Shashank Dixit, CEO, Deskera, a global leader of cloud technology across the globe.
The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) has identified such startups to nurture and encourage them and basically incubate the upcoming technologies. Such innovators have been featured in the book Cleanovators, released by the ministry.
