Talwalkars, the largest fitness chain in India and the government sponsored Beauty & Wellness Sector Skill Council (
B&WSSC) has signed a MoU to place for B&WSSC-certified candidates across all the Talwalkars fitness centres and academies. The MoU was signed by Mr. Vinayak Gawande, Director ofTalwalkars Better Value Fitness Ltd. and Ms. Annu Wadhwa, CEO of B&WSSC.
The Beauty and Wellness Sector Skill Council (BWSSC) is a not for profit organization promoted by CII with financial support from the National Skill Development Corporation. It is registered as a society under the Societies Act and is chaired by Mrs. VandanaLuthra of VLCC. The Governing Council from the sector has icons like Ms Blossom Kocchar, Ms, Gurpreet Seble, Mr. Ramesh Wangal and Ms. Rekha Chaudhary.
The aim of this sector skill council (SSC) is to focus on establishing an effective and efficient ecosystem for developing and imparting skills to beauty and wellness industry novices through curriculum courses, access to information database, delivery system, standardization, accreditation and a certification process to enhance the employability of the Indian workforce globally. By 2023, the SSC aims to accredit 390 training organizations, train 2,200 trainers and provide certification to almost 17 lakh Indians by 2023.
Director of Talwalkars, Mr. Vinayak Gawande said, "We are delighted to partner with the Beauty & Wellness Sector Skill Council as their on the job training partner for fitness training academies across India. This will assist the Skill India Movement and is one more step in bringing qualified and trained manpower to the industry."
B&WSSC is launching job roles in fitness and these candidates once trained, will receive a placement opportunity at Talwalkars gyms across India and Sri Lanka. Talwalkars has also agreed through this MoU to offer its gym floors for summer workshops, on-the-job training (OJT) and internships to B&WSSC candidates.
Ms. Annu Wadhwa, CEO of Beauty & Wellness Sector Skill Council, said, "B&WSSC is proud to tie-up with Talwalkars, the largest fitness brand in India and Sri Lanka, for recruitment and On-the-Job training of B&WSSC-certified candidates. B&WSSC's efforts towards bringing vocational education like fitness at par with formal education will greatly strengthen with this association. This tie-up is further validation of the work B&WSSC is doing towards standardizing the fragmented and unorganised beauty and wellness industry, further adding credibility to B&WSSC certification."
She further added, "With the growing awareness about preventive health, the demand for fitness professionals is increasing. This tie-up will go a long way in making promoting the industry among the youth to take up fitness as an intentional and conscious career option."
