The onset of technology and its rapid adoption across sectors, has transformed the business and personal lives of modern 21st-century citizens. Simultaneously, these innovations in technology have also given rise to a new robust and thriving startup ecosystem that has already become a major contributor to the national economy.
Like every year, this year also BW Disrupt had organised a 40 under 40 quest for the most influential leaders of the year and awarded the brightest young entrepreneurs, innovators and game changers under the age of 40. The event was commenced with brief backdrop by our Editor-in-chief Mr. Anurag Batra. The first panel of the day talked about the constant need of innovation in today’s times and how to cope up with the pressure of new etrpreneurs bombarding each other’s segment. The panelists for the first session were; Deepak Sahn, Founder, Healthians; Bhawana Khetan, MRICS, Co-founder and Director, Address Advisors; Chaitanya; Rathi, COO, Sula Vineyards; Amit Khatri, Founder, Noise; Anshuman Kishore Pandey, Founder, Goals 101 and; Bindu Subramaniam, Founder, SaPa in schools.
The talks of the panel were revolving around on how do all entrepreneurs tend to make sure that innovation stays into an ever-evolving stage and not become stale with time, to which Sahn stated that, “primary thing we can keep into consideration is to keep the pace of connectivity in-tact as it was when we as entrepreneurs were building a brand. For instance; initially in order to build a new brand, entrepreneurs tend to stay more connected to customers in order to under what they need. But, once the brand I established then customer service agents take that place and the gap begins to widen between and entrepreneur and his customers. Hence, its very imp to stay in close contact with your customers and this also helps the innovation process on-going, failing which the innovation stops there and then.”
To this statement actually all other entrepreneur panelists did have a similar opinion. All were of similar belief that maintaining close proximity with end consumers is very important. But, actually not all industries require constant innovation. Client servicing industry for instance is one of the places where it stands apart and continuous innovation can sometimes become monotonous. Khetan believes that that performing customer service with full conviction and solving customer’s problems is the actually definition of innovation in client servicing industry. “Just solving customer’s relevant day to day problem is innovation.”
Adding more to the talk, Sula Vineyards COO Chaitanya believes that “there are 2 sides of innovation- external, which involves the product side and internal which involves performing changes and improvements within the existing framework. Companies need to understand that you cannot innovate externally until u innovate internally. Constant innovation of new blood and talent within will lead to better external innovations.”
