Koo Shuts Down As Acquisition Talks Fail

Despite raising over USD 57 million and reaching a peak valuation of USD 285.5 million, Koo faced financial difficulties and workforce reductions

Indian microblogging platform Koo, launched as an alternative to X (formerly Twitter), is shutting down, according to media reports.

The decision follows the failure of acquisition talks with online media firm Dailyhunt.

Founded in 2020 by Aprameya Radhakrishna and Mayank Bidawatka, Koo gained investor interest and expanded to Nigeria and Brazil.

Despite raising over USD 57 million and reaching a peak valuation of USD 285.5 million, Koo faced financial difficulties and workforce reductions.

The app, which featured a yellow bird logo and had nearly 60 million downloads, could not secure additional funding, leading founders to cover salaries from personal funds, as per media reports.
