Made in India: E-Raaja, India's first 100% locally made green E-Rickshaw Launched

In order to boost India’s e-vehicle market, the first 100 percent locally manufactured, designed and developed set of e-vehicles have been launched. Called E-Raaja, the ICAT-approved 8 e-vehicles include commercial and passenger vehicles and which were launched recently.

All innovations would help reduce air pollution and give a fillip to green business in India and tackle climate change and global warming—issues that threaten mankind.

"In line with the government's vision of a 100 per cent E-mobility by 2030, we have launched multiple usage e-vehicles. While our e-vehicles will be in the market in April, the launch of e-two wheelers will take time. They will be launched after government approval," says Managing Director (India) Rajan Handa of OK Play, the innovation company manufacturing the e-vehicle units in the nation.

The e-vehicles represent a range of environmentally-friendly devices that include, and e-scooters, e-rickshaws, e-mobile shops, e-loaders, e-vending carts, e-school buses, and e-garbage collectors. These e-vehicles, under the brand name E-Raaja, are priced in the range of Rs 1.25 to 1.5 lakh. OK Play has also showcased six e-two wheelers which are scheduled for launch in the Indian market after approvals from the Indian government trickle in.

The company OK Play also plans to expand manufacturing facilities in an anticipation of increased demand for the environmentally-friendly vehicles; it currently manufactures those e-vehicles from six units spread across India.
Handa said that the company will open four more manufacturing units by the end of the first quarter of the next financial year.

The Managing Director also affirmed that the company OK Play was looking at exporting the launched e-vehicles to the Middle East and Africa. "We are under discussion,” said Handa.
