Taking ahead the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Initiative,Bengaluru Based Unicorn Ola signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Government of Tamil Nadu for a venture of Rs 2,400 crore to set up one of the world's biggest bike factory in the state. This will be the organization's first set-up in Tamil Nadu.
The move comes as Ola intends to dispatch and grow its two-wheeler electric vehicles and improve India's electric vehicle environment while serving clients in Europe, Asia, and Latin American among different business sectors. The organization has roped in General Motor Veteran Jose Pinheiro to lead global manufacturing and operations for the initiative.
Further explaining the move, a press statement said, this was a view towards decrease of India's import reliance in a key future area like electric vehicles, support local production, generate employment and improve the technical know-how in the nation.
