E-commerce platform Paytm Mall has started its Freedom sale from August 11 till August 17. The sale is specially focused on SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises) and Make in India brands to be promoted during the week-long event.
Paytm Mall informed that over 200 SMEs and start-ups are launching more than 500 new products across 20 different categories. Also, More than 10,000 offline shop owners, including Kirana stores, are taking part in the sale and are fulfilling customer orders. According to the company, several cottage emporiums, artisans, and women entrepreneurs would be showcasing unique products such as handmade jewelry, including Benarasi and Kanjivaram sarees, hand-stitched Kurtas, ethnic wear from different states, home & kitchen decor would all be sold on the platform.
Abhishek Rajan, COO, Paytm Mall said, "This Independence Day we want to reach out to a large number of SMEs, artisans, Indian brands and empower them to leverage digital commerce as a potent distribution channel. Our Freedom Sale also hopes to reignite consumer buying sentiment with the best in category deals and seamless e-commerce experience. During the last few months, we have seen a 2X increase in sales on our platform, we hope that this event would push it further."
Other big e-commerce players have been conducting online sale recently. Amazon had finished it Prime Sale last week and Flipkart ended its Big Savings Day sale this Monday. Similarly, Grofers is currently offering a nine-day sale till 16th August.
In the context of pandemic impact, Rajan stated, “In the post COVID world having the ability to sell products online will help these sellers and manufacturers grow and expand their business. During the last few months, we have seen a 2X increase in sales on our platform, we hope that this the event would push it further."
