Porter, Bhumi NGO Join Hand To Raise Funds To Help Daily Wagers In Lockdown

One of the worst-hit sectors in the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic is the logistics sector. Millions of truck drivers have thereby been adversely affected. These drivers depend on their daily ride earnings to put a meal on the table for their families. In the lockdown, their earnings have diminished greatly and the very survival of their families is at stake. Porter, a leader in India's $30 billion intra-city logistics market, in partnership with Bhumi (NGO) has launched Save the Truck Driver: COVID - 19 relief fund. Porter employees and investors have collectively raised Rs 50 lakh of the targeted Rs 2 crore fund to help the truck drivers within Porter community.

The Money raised will be utilized to provide a relief fund of Rs 2000 to truck drivers and families in order to cover their basic necessities. They will also be provided with a health insurance cover of Rs 50,000 along with income support of Rs 14,000 if diagnosed with COVID-19.

Porter has been supporting the measures announced by GOI & State Government by offering it’s wide network of trucks to move essential goods like groceries, medicines etc. It recently partnered with MP task force delivering more than 2.5 lac food packets in Bengaluru.
