To attain growth across the Indian economy, competition within states is significant, said NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant.
He was addressing the Chief Secretaries' Conclave, on the theme of “Role of States for Making New India by 2022”, organised by PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) in New Delhi on 16 September.
Kant said that, “Government led ease of doing business and MSME registration in various sectors has pushed the economic growth of the states.”
“The state government’s initiative to give topmost priority and thrust for facilitating and coordinating the growth and development of the MSMEs help in creating business opportunities. As most of the action is in the states, it is important that the states compete with each other and further drive growth across the nation.”
Talking about the growth in India region wise, Kant stressed on the different sectors that can drive growth and stability in Indian states.
“Unless we have champions in every state, India cannot progress. Hence, the role of the chief secretaries of the state is very important to drive mission, policies and add to the wholesome growth of the nation,” he added.
Besides showcasing the best practices of different states, the conclave offered a powerful platform for different stakeholders from the centre, industry, policy establishments, diplomatic corps (embassies), investors, civil society and media for an exchange of ideas.
