The diversity in the investor community is even lesser than that of the startup ecosystem which can create biases and difficulties for women to take up investments. The growth in the number of women entrepreneurs in the startup sector cannot be neglected as the larger picture is only getting better.
“We are at the entry-level in the segment as the number of women entrepreneurs participating in the startup ecosystem is probably below a 10 per cent mark,” Meena Ganesh mentions. Taking it ahead, she further highlighted multiple reasons impacting women's participation and said that social stereotypical mindset and the support they need to build their small startups into big impact making enterprises are the major areas that require attention.
She largely emphasised propelling women solopreneurs who hold the capability and promising potential to become large entrepreneurs. While sharing her first-hand experience, Portea Medical’s Ganesh advised and said, “Everything is a learned skill. One should not hesitate and seek mentorship to learn the way forward.”
