The Indian Entrepreneurship Story: Not For the Timid Hearted

The world of entrepreneurs might appear as buttoned-down from the outside - but in reality, way more practical and realistic in approach. Many entrepreneurs are known for being colorful characters, both at work and in their personal lives. After all, following rules and staying inside the lines doesn't often make for business success!

Like every year, this year also BW Disrupt had organised a 40 under 40 quest for the most influential leaders of the year and awarded the brightest young entrepreneurs, innovators and game changers under the age of 40. The event was commenced with brief backdrop by our Editor-in-chief Mr. Anurag Batra. Towards the end, just before the awards ceremony ws the last panel of the day which talked about what instigated these entreprenurs into having to build their own established companies.

This panel was moderated by Vani gupta Marketing lead and business consultant, CherryPeachPlum Growth Partners along with eminent panellist entrepreneurs like, Nitin Vindlish, Founder, Mom Belief; Shazan Bhojani, CEO and Dreamer, DESIGN CAFÉ; Sumeet Kabra, Director, RR Global; Yash Malik, Founder, The LuxePass; Amit Monga, Co-Founder, ANS Commerce and Shikha Pahwa, Founder, house This.

Bhojani claimed to be wanting to be an entrepreneur out of pure ambition as, “I was always keen into developing dream homes for people. Also, the other motive was to be doing something for my own and not be into a job which was ruled by my boss.”

While Pahwa on the other hand believes that, “being an entrepreneur is not just about making good money and earn fame, its also about making an impact in lives of 1000s of people whose lives your brand can change. The concept of value creating in any business is what has always attracted me towards entrepreneurship.”

Entrepreneurship tends to attract people with unique minds and strong personalities, and that can make for a lot of interesting stories.
