Uber has partnered with ShadowFax to power its two-wheeler rides. The two companies will connect their two-wheeler fleets with the UberMoto bike taxi service from the leading ride-hailing company.
The Shadowfax drivers will now have the option to switch to UberMoto's bike-taxi service during their off-peak hours. With this deal, Uber will also be able to expand its operations into locations where Shadowfax is present and add more two-wheelers to its bike taxi fleet.
This news follows weeks after Uber declared it would be relaunching its premium Uber Black service in India, beginning in Mumbai and continuing for nearly ten years.
With new companies joining the market to expand their customer base and offer distinctive services, the rivalry among ride-hailing service providers is becoming more fierce. For example, it was reported a few weeks ago that the unicorn startup Rapido, located in Bengaluru, was considering betting on electrifying its whole fleet of bike taxis in Delhi by the next year.
To compete with services like Lyft and Uber, ride-hailing startup Namma Yatri was reportedly in early talks to enter the US taxi industry in late August with several American taxi unions. Shadowfax is reportedly planning to raise Rs 2,500 to 3,000 Crore through an IPO at a valuation of Rs 5,000 – 8,000 crore.
As per media reports, both the promoters and equity investors have already started discussions with merchant bankers for the IPO.
