Unacademy Co-founder Hemesh Singh Moves On To Advisory Role

Unacademy has recently experienced a series of high-level departures, including Chief Operating Officer Vivek Sinha and Chief Financial Officer Subramanian Ramachandran

Unacademy Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer Hemesh Singh has decided to step down from his executive position and transition into an advisory role, according to media reports.

Founded in 2015 by Gaurav Munjal, Hemesh Singh, and Roman Saini, Unacademy connects educators and learners across various fields, offering a range of courses aimed at skill improvement. The company generates revenue through subscriptions for both online and offline learning.

"After almost a decade of building Unacademy with @gauravmunjal and @romansaini, I have decided to move from an Executive Role to an Advisory Role," Singh announced in a post on X. "It has been a wonderful ride and I am extremely grateful to have been a part of this journey. We did change the Test Prep Industry for good. What a crazy journey it has been! Thanks a lot @gauravmunjal for everything," he added.

Unacademy has recently experienced a series of high-level departures, including Chief Operating Officer Vivek Sinha and Chief Financial Officer Subramanian Ramachandran. Despite these exits, the company has been actively recruiting new talent to fill these roles. Last month, Pratik Dalal was appointed CFO of Unacademy's offline business.

According to media reports, the SoftBank-backed edtech unicorn altered the goals for Munjal and Singh in 2022, granting them additional voting rights through bonus shares. Reports indicate that Munjal and Singh will gain further voting rights if Unacademy forms a committee by March 2025 to work on its initial public offering.
