Amazon To Make Multi-billion Dollar Investment In Anthropic

In September of last year, Amazon announced a USD 4 billion investment in Anthropic, giving Amazon Web Services (AWS) customers early access to Anthropic’s advanced AI models

Amazon is reportedly in discussions to make a second multi-billion-dollar investment in Anthropic, an artificial intelligence startup and competitor to OpenAI. This move would follow Amazon’s initial USD 4 billion investment in Anthropic, which was made last year, to enhance its AI capabilities.

Amazon, a known name in cloud computing services, is considering further investment in Anthropic to deepen its involvement in the rapidly growing AI sector, according to a report by The Information. The report states that Amazon has encouraged Anthropic to use servers that run on Amazon-developed chips for training its AI models, although Anthropic currently favours servers powered by Nvidia AI chips.

In September of last year, Amazon announced a USD 4 billion investment in Anthropic, giving Amazon Web Services (AWS) customers early access to Anthropic’s advanced AI models.

Anthropic, which leverages AWS for its computing needs, was founded by Dario and Daniela Amodei, former OpenAI executives, and has quickly attracted attention with its innovative AI developments. However, neither Amazon nor Anthropic provided comments on the current discussions.

It is to note that, Anthropic has also secured significant investment from Google-parent Alphabet, which invested USD 500 million last year and pledged an additional USD 1.5 billion over time.
