Ratan N Tata was the Chairman of Tata Sons, the holding company of the Tata group, from 1991 till his retirement on December 2012. He was also chairman of the major Tata companies, including Tata Motors, Tata Steel, Tata Consultancy Services, Tata Power, Tata Global Beverages, Tata Chemicals, Indian Hotels and Tata Teleservices. During his tenure, the group’s revenues grew manifold, totaling over $100 billion in 2011-12.
SOME OF HIS RULES FOR SUCCESS :- Communicate with your employees- Employees are the foundation of any organisation. Communicating with employees is one of the most important rule on the road of success. This not only builds a senior-subordinate relationship but also keep you updated.
Take Chances- He personally feels that the companies who grew as big organisation are the one who took chances. Big companies like Microsoft , Apple, Google etc. they only came to existence when someone had an idea , a vision and took chances to make them possible. For being successful you you have to take chances with your ideas.
Persevere- It literally means continue in a course of action even in the face of difficulty, with little or no indication of success. One can only be successful by continuous steps towards.
Build Trust- Trust is everything. Building trust in an organisation is your duty. If you , managers or employees don't trust each other then the growth of the organisation is doubtful.
Be Humble- Ratan Tata himself is a very humble man. According to him being a good human is primary motive. By being humble you not only display a good image but motivate others to behave accordingly.
Have Heroes- One should always have heroes (role model) to look up to and work. Heroes are the role models who serves as success stories, rules etc serves as blueprints for the young aspiring people.
Be Yourself- Numbers of startup come and go over nights. By being yourself , backing your qualities and working on your flaws you can achieve what you desire in your life. Be yourself only this will help you out in long run.
Make a difference- Every business should be done for increasing the consumer satisfaction. Your organisation and your products should make some sort of difference for the society, only then you should consider yourself successful.
Be Motivated by Competition- The best competition one can have is the one who motivate you to work harder. For being successful one should always feel motivated from its competition. Competition serves as the best motivation for everyone.
Do what can’t be done- Any business can only be turned into brand when you achieve what others can't. Even the word impossible is made up of i am + possible. Success is nothing if it is not hard to get.
