Coursera Launches “Mindshift” Course to Catapult Career Advancement

Coursera, a leading online learning platform, has launched a course titled “Mindshift” to help professionals break through obstacles to learn and discover their hidden potential. Created by Barbara Oakley, the course is an extension to the concepts taught by Barbara in “Learning How to Learn”, the world’s most popular online course which received over 100,000 enrollments in India and over 1.5 million enrollments worldwide.

“Mindshift” provides practical insights from neuroscience on how to leverage your own strengths to find and succeed in the career path that is right for you. For example, a poor memory can be a huge asset in your career. Research shows that a poor memory can help you be more creative and figure out shortcuts that other people can’t see. Another surprising finding discussed in the course is how the best next job for you may be in a field you are completely unfamiliar with now. The more different your past is from your present, the more creativity you can bring to the table—a boon in today’s new information economy. Whether you are moving from being a nursing assistant into computer programming, or from sports into marketing, you’ll bring insights to your new job that others simply can’t bring.

The four week long self-paced course is available for 1935 rupees on Coursera’s website. Coursera is an online education company that partners with 160 of the world’s top universities and education institutions to offer courses, specializations, and degrees that empower learners around the world to achieve their career, educational, and personal enrichment goals throughout their lives. Since launching in 2012, the company has grown to 25 million registered learners who can choose from among 2,000 courses and 180 specializations available to be enrolled in at any time.
