Dorje Teas, a direct-to-consumer (D2C) startup from Darjeeling, has secured Rs 1.8 crore in Seed funding, led by Coast Fund Venture Capital (part of Blink Digital) and joined by investors such as Untitled Ventures, Ice VC, SSK Exports, the Chandigarh Angels Network, and a group of Ashoka University alumni. Notably, creators and entrepreneurs like Arjun Vaidya and Varun Mayya also participated, along with renowned actor Nakuul Mehta, who will be both an investor and brand ambassador.
Founded by Sparsh Agarwal and Ishaan Kanoria, the company is also starting a content creators' staycation initiative at the historic Selim Hill tea garden, inviting influencers to explore and promote its unique offerings. Other venture capital-backed brands in the tea industry include Vahdam Teas, Tea Box, and Team Monk.
The three-year-old company gained significant exposure after appearing on Season 2 of Shark Tank India, where it attracted investments from D2C experts Anupam Mittal and Vineeta Singh. Since then, Dorje Teas has reported a remarkable 300 per cent growth in operations and revenue.
Looking ahead, the startup plans to broaden its product range and establish an in-house content studio to produce engaging material that underscores its dedication to health and quality. Additionally, Dorje Teas aims to develop a B2B division and start exporting its Darjeeling teas globally.
