Excerpts from the interview-

Q: How was it Started?

The founder had been closely studying and observing the education system both as a student and explorer for years. He was disturbed by the way more and more students were eventually stuck in the careers they hated. Edunuts was started with an idea to address the issues that led to these things.

Q. How does it stand differently from existing ones?
The live chat feature that provides students with personalised assistance in real time is what makes Edunuts stand out from its competitors.

Q. Please tell us about your startup's funding status as of now?
You can call it self funded or bootstrapped at the moment.

Q. What kind of traction has your product been getting so far?
In last 6 months, Edunuts has counselled over 15000 students in choosing the right career. Also, it managed to grow its online traffic by over 3000% in a year.

Q. Tell us what kind of future plans you have in mind?
With an aim to enhance the level of individualized assistance, we are building a live chat platform called Edunuts Connect. It will be an automated platform and will be a combination of human efforts & artificial intelligence. We also have plans to reach out to and connect with more and more proficient counsellors. It will bridge the gap between a career-advice-seeker and the right advice.

Q. Share your marketing plans for your startup?
Initially, we focused on tier 1 cities. Now that we have covered these cities, we have planned to further expand to tier 2 and tier 3 cities.

Q. Talk about the challenges faced up till now and how did you overcome them?
Students and the people (parents, relatives, etc.) who take career decisions for them still hesitate to rely on the online world. They are in cognizant of its use and reliability. Spreading awareness and building trust on our online platform has been the biggest challenge so far. There have been many other institutional impediments. Besides, newer portals are opening every other day. But the positive differences that we’ve so far made and will be making in youngster’s lives is what fuels our efforts.

Q. Can you reveal the market size & opportunity Edunuts is playing in?
There are over 50 million users who are seeking career advice online, and we have only covered 2% of them so far. So, I’d say, we have a long way to go. Besides, we are presently focussing on the quality of information provided by us, so there are a lot of opportunities for us to grow.
