Mekin Maheshwari, former Chief People Officer and Chief Technology Officer of Flipkart, who is currently leading an NGO named Udhyam Learning Foundation, has invested Rs 50 Lakhs in UrbanClap, India's largest home services marketplace. Additionally, Anjali Bansal, founder of Avaana Capital has also invested Rs 99 Lakhs through her personal investment fund SAB Holdings.
With his investment, Mekin and Anjali join UrbanClap's other distinguished angel investors, including Mr. Ratan Tata, Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons, Mr. Kalyan Krishnamurthy, CEO of Flipkart, amongst others.
Founded in Nov 2014, UrbanClap is India and the UAE’s largest home services company. The company offers services such as beauty and spa at home, cleaning, plumbing, carpentry, appliance repair, painting etc. through its mobile app and website. It operates in 10 cities in India (including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi NCR, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mumbai, Pune) and 2 international markets (Dubai & Abu Dhabi). At the backend, UrbanClap partners very closely with over 20,000 hand-picked service professionals. It provides these professionals with tools, training, uniforms, financing, insurance, bank accounts and products/consumables. This full-stack approach helps the company control the end-users experience and live up to its promise of delivering delightful services at home.
