As per media reports, the Gujarat government has announced a new procurement policy aimed at boosting MSMEs and women entrepreneurs.
The policy, effective from April 1, will also support startups and entities operated by Scheduled Castes and Tribes. Exemptions from certain criteria have been granted to startups.
In FY23, the government made purchases worth Rs 1.47 lakh crore under the existing policy, according to media reports.
The new policy mandates BIS product specifications and promotes procurement through the Government-e-Marketplace portal. Global tender inquiries will be floated for procurements exceeding Rs 200 crore.
