In a country like India to solve a problem, one has to solve it at a scale. “To increase the chances of scaling and solving, it would be helpful to maintain good public-private partnership and reliance on frugal innovation,” Shridhar Venkat, CEO, Akshaya Patra Foundation shares while advising on how can a problem be solved at a large scale efficiently.
As the sun sets, 8000 children in the world would have died today not because of diseases but because of hunger. Shridhar Venkat, CEO, Akshaya Patra Foundation mentions that hunger kills more children than all diseases put together in the world.
If each one feeds one, each one teaches one, the problem of access and resources can be solved forever. “We started with 1500 children in 2000 and today, we feed 1.8 million children every day in over 20,000 schools. Akshaya Patra is one of the largest school meal programs by a not for profit organisation,” claims CEO, Akshaya Patra Foundation speaking at the recently concluded Social Impact Summit organised by BW Disrupt in association with BW Businessworld.
