India Poised To Achieve $1 Trillion Digital Economy By 2025-2026: MoS Chandrasekhar
India is to be among the top three economies of the world by 2026-27 and the digital economy will be the biggest contributor with 20 per cent in this growth, said Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology while speaking at an event on Thursday.
India is expected to surpass Japan and Germany in terms of its economic size in the coming years.
The minister further said that India hopes to achieve a one trillion dollar digital economy by 2025-2026, which will help in catalysing the entrepreneurial culture in the country with more and more start-ups contributing to the economy.
He explained how India is focusing on the next ‘Techade’ where the government aims to intensify, grow and accelerate the three pillars of Digital India as technology empowers and transforms people’s lives, a driver for the expansion of the economy and entrepreneurship, and it also boosts the role of India in the technology-dominated future, as consumers and creators of technology.
Chandrasekhar also addressed the current issues like semiconductor and supply chain of talents by saying that in 14 months we have created opportunities in manufacturing, design and innovation and also introduced a new curriculum for higher education systems which will be a talent pool for the Indian and global semiconductor and electronics ecosystems.
On recent developments like artificial intelligence and machine learning, he emphasised that India must be a global player in emerging technologies. Minister also invited public affairs professionals to participate in the consultation process, with their thoughts, ideas, solutions and suggestions to make ‘India Techade’ successful.
