Indian Social App Chingari Welcomes All Tiktok Users On Board As Govt Bans Chinese Apps For ‘Spying’

As the Indian government puts a ban on 59 Chinese apps, including TikTok, in the wake of Chinese aggression on our borders, content creators are entertainment lovers are switching to Chingari, the desi and better alternative to the Chinese TikTok.

Post the government order, social media platforms were abuzz with posts like — “why fear when Chingari is here”, “TikTok ban wouldn’t stop content creators from shining because we have Chingari”, and “Chingari is not only better than TikTok but it also pays incentives to creators on its platform”, among others.

Reacting to the development, Sumit Ghosh, Co-founder and Chief Product Officer, Chinagri App said, “This is a very good step taken by the Government of India. For a very long time, TikTok has been spying on users and sending back the data to China. We are happy that this step has been finally taken. I thank and congratulate Prime Minister Narendra Modi. We would like to welcome all TikTok users to come and try Chingari, a 100% 'Made In India' app, which is made for passionate Indians.”

A day before, in a major shot in the arm for Made In India social app 'Chingari', noted industrialist and philanthropist Anand Mahindra took to Twitter to praise the indigenous short video-sharing app. In his tweet, he said, “I hadn’t ever downloaded TikTok but I have just downloaded Chingari... More power to you.”

The tweet instantly became viral and set the already soaring downloads of Chingari App on a roll. Post the tweet, people in large numbers appreciated Mahindra for choosing the Indian app and following his footstep, installed the app. After Mahindra’s tweet, Chingari recorded more than 5,00,000 downloads in less than 24 hours, averaging 50,000 downloads per hour, a feat never achieved by any Indian Tech Startup Before!

Mahindra’s tweet comes in the wake of a rising 'boycott Chinese apps' sentiment among the countrymen. Along with the tweet, Mahindra also shared a media article which explained how the Chinese App Tiktok has suddenly started losing its base in the Indian market soon after Indian App Chingari made inroads into the digital entertainment world.

Meanwhile, the popularity of Chingari continues to surge with the app welcoming 3 million new users in less than 10 days. Prior to this, the app had garnered about 500,000 downloads in just about 72 hours. The app is currently among the top 10 trending apps on Google Play store.

Biswatma Nayak, Co-founder of the Chingari App, said, “We are honoured to have received appreciation from Mr Anand Mahindra. He is among the most reputed business leaders of our nation and we sincerely thank him for supporting Chingari. We are delighted that the app is being received so well by the users and we will continue to deliver on the expectations.”

The app is available in multiple languages — including English, Hindi, Bangla, Gujarati, Marathi, Kannada, Punjabi, Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu. The app also focuses on privacy and endorses the highest privacy transparency standards.
