Odisha Police, in collaboration with IG Drones and backed by Startup Odisha, is set to introduce AI-powered technology for traffic and crowd management during the upcoming Rath Yatra. This initiative marks the first-time deployment of such advanced technology for this event, enhancing public safety and traffic efficiency.
The AI system includes capabilities like congestion detection, vehicle counting, and real-time updates, integrated with drones and CCTV systems. Five state-of-the-art Jaga drones equipped with public announcement systems will be deployed for real-time crowd management.
A citywide surveillance network will feature fifty-five CCTV cameras and five drones to cover blind spots. Additionally, a WhatsApp ChatBot will provide real-time traffic updates, while LED vans will display current traffic conditions.
Odisha Police’s comprehensive plan includes extensive mentorship, a detailed mobility plan, and a dedicated team to monitor drone operations. Real-time updates will be shared on social media, and a 24x7 helpline (73816-90900) will assist the public during the Yatra.

Vehicular traffic regulations will be enforced from July 6 to July 9 and from July 14 to July 16 to ensure smooth operations.
These innovative measures underscore Odisha Police's commitment to transforming traffic management and enhancing public safety during the Rath Yatra.
