In an opening key note at the first ever #TiEGlobalSummit in the Indian capital, New Delhi, Travis Kalanick, Co-founder Uber delivered an optimistic view of the Indian entrepreneurial ecosystem. While in conversation with Deep Kalra, Founder & Group CEO MakemyTrip, Travis said that the country has evolved as a hub for entrepreneurs and is brimming with innovation at its peak.
Travis recently announced the launch of Uber Moto in Hyderabad, the services of which will be available in the city from january 2017. In context to Travis expressing his acceptance of Indian citizenship yesterday, Deep Kalra presented him with a helmet to guard himself from the Indian roads as a fun gesture. All this happened as part of his addressal at the ongoing TiE Global Summit, the largest entrepreneurial summit in the world.
The opening key note session delivered by Travis Kalanick recorded a humongous interest of the audience. The presentation covered the successful entrepreneurial journey of Travis and became an inspiration for the audience present in the room. When asked about his first interest, Travis said, “I have always been interested in coding. As a part of the engineering mindset we look at every situation through a problem solving approach and with a Keep hustling attitude. Talking about entrepreneurship and the strategy, he said that it’s not an easy road, especially when it is solo. You have to be tough and you have to be hardcore. Also, having too many founders can also lead to difficulty in decision making as you get baffled with so many different opinions.”
In the recent years, the Indian ecosystem has witnessed a surge in entrepreneurs. While innovation in entrepreneurship is rising, a few startups find it difficult to continue beyond a certain point. Deep Kalra, in one of his statement said, “Best businesses have not seen the light of the day as the entrepreneurs gave up too early”
