As India's festive season kicked off with Raksha Bandhan, quick commerce platforms like Blinkit, Swiggy Instamart, and Zepto proved to be a go-to choice for consumers. These companies recorded significant milestones, reflecting the increasing reliance on fast delivery services during celebrations.
Albinder Dhindsa, CEO of Blinkit, took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the platform's exceptional performance. "We’ll cross all-time high orders in a day on Blinkit in a couple of minutes. We also hit the highest-ever OPM (orders per minute), GMV, chocolate sales, and most other metrics today!" Dhindsa revealed that at the festival's peak, Blinkit sold 693 rakhis per minute. Expressing his gratitude, he said, "Thank you to all our customers (especially the ones who placed their first Blinkit order today) for trusting our service. Happy Raksha Bandhan to all."
Zepto’s CEO, Aadit Palicha, celebrated a major achievement on LinkedIn, stating, "We just crossed 1 million Lifafas—what a crazy way to end a Sunday night! All-time high on orders, sales, and first-time buyers as well." His excitement was shared by co-founder Kaivalya V, who noted that Zepto had already sold 4x more rakhis compared to last year.
Swiggy Instamart also witnessed a remarkable surge in demand. Co-founder Phani Kishan posted on X, "Celebrations of Raksha Bandhan fully underway—clocking higher orders per minute (OPM) than our peak yesterday, which was a historical high in itself." He highlighted that the number of rakhis sold this year had already surpassed last year by 5x, with the festival still ongoing.
These announcements underscore the growing trend of consumers turning to quick commerce platforms for their festival shopping needs, marking a shift in how India celebrates its traditions.
