Seraphine, International Fashion Maternity Wear Plans To Enter India

Seraphine, the renowned International maternity fashion label founded by businesswoman and designer Cécile Reinaud plans to enter India in September, 2018. The brand will be launched by Rajat Kapoor, Director Kay Kay Clothing LLP in India. Rajat is also credited to have brought Malaysian kidswear brand Poney to India in 2015 and has been a prominent name in the kidswear market in this region for the past two years. 

Rajat Kapoor, Director, Kay Kay Clothing LLP will be initially investing Rs. 5 crores on the brand's entry and opening of its first store. The product range will be between Rs. 1500 for a t-shirt to Rs. 20,000 for a formal evening gown. The flagship store will be opened at a high-street mall in New Delhi and Rajat plans to open 5 stores by 2020.

The number of working pregnant women along with the disposable income has led to an acceleration in the demand of stylish maternity wear in India. As per reports, the annual maternity wear market in India is estimated at about Rs 2,000 crore and the segment is growing at around 15-17 percent year on year, thereby making it a frontrunner in ever burgeoning fashion retail vertical of the country.

Indian startup who is already operating in this segment is Momzjoy that has found its own niche in the market for maternity wear and is growing by leaps and bounds.
