Sujata Sangwan Interacts With Param Kalra, Co-founder, StartHubNation and Spoke to Him Regarding His Venture
How was StartHubNation started?
Our idea was to pump a social and startup ecosystem here in the Chandigarh region. We saw how NCR and Bangalore have developed the social ecosystem there and thought a CoWorking space could be a starting milestone for the same. There was no other CoWorking space in the region until then for startups. So we started with it and started spreading the word.
How did the entrepreneurial bug bite you?
We were always entrepreneurs. I think entrepreneurship starts when you have set your vision clear towards changing something. Three of us from the team are from Business backgrounds and always had it at the back of our minds.
What are the special key features of your venture?
StartHubNation does not only think as a coworking space of Chandigarh, but also the management behind it is always enthusiastic to bring the best to the region in terms of startup/entrepreneur events, investors, mentors, exposure, talk sessions, best environment and much more.
Who are your competitors?
We have actually no competitors in the region as other coworking spaces in the region and vicinity are more focused on either IT based startups or landlordship in just selling their space. StartHubNation is more of an incubator for basic level startups and also acts as an accelerator if required. We believe in networking and socializing rather than a central approach.
How big is the space and what’s the pricing model?
We have a total of around 4000 Sq.Ft of covered area which includes common desks, private hubs, meetings rooms, conference rooms, a play/games area, library, pantry etc.
Here's the latest pricing (Dedicated 24 hours):
Freelancer (Loner) - Rs. 3999/month
Two Seats (2) - Rs. 7500/month
Startup Team (3 Seats) - Rs. 10,999/-
Emerging team (4 Seats) - Rs. 13,999/month
Established Team (6 Seats) - Rs. 18,999/month
Octapad (8 Seats) - Rs. 23,999
My Hub (Private enclosure) - Rs. 37,999/month
Virtual Office - Rs. 3000/month
What are the challenges StartHubNation faced while setting up the business?
The challenges were many. We've seen this space developed from scratch and a fear of not getting good number of people to startup here. From making people understand the concept as it was alien to the region, to typing up with prominent personalities in the region, everything seemed to be a challenge.
What are the traction details?
The first floor that we started with got occupied completely in the first 6 months of starting operations. Which is a very good demand due to which we started a new floor in January this year. This one has also been 80% occupied which seems very promising. We have around 22 startups and freelancer right now here.
What are the services StartHubNation offering to its customers?
From anything to everything we provide Office space, internet lease line, furniture, meeting rooms, conference rooms, office boys, housekeeping, pantry, play/games area, investor events, startups events, talk sessions, festivals and much more
How are you different from others?
It's cheap office space and lot that comes with it. Total win win situation as it's crafted according to startups' needs.
