SeedStars World conducted its Bangalore Edition at the TechHub earlier this Saturday and had over 10 startups pitching for the chance to represent India at the World Finals in Switzerland. Bangalore-based
TapChief, a platform to seek advice from experts via phone calls emerged as the winner and will now be travelling to Switzerland in March 2017 to compete against entrepreneurs from 65 countries to win the $500k in offer.
The jury picked PlayLyfe as the first-runners up and FullOnWedding as the second-runners up. Cirtru, HipShip, Sportzify, PikiPoll, Trukky and neoEYED were the other startups who pitched at SeedStars Bangalore.

TapChief has now entered the rank of illustrious startups that have represented India in the past. India was previously represented by Strike, a software collaboration platform for mobiles, and prior to that- HackerEarth, an online developer community that has experienced good growth for the past three years. Both companies are going doing well and Seedstars believes they reflect India’s booming tech and startup ecosystem scene. Seedstars World estimates that all its previous participants have raised over $61 million collectively, while providing employment to more than 800 employees worldwide.
Shashank, in his pitch talked of bridging the industry-education gap by leveraging shared human knowledge and experience. “Industries are demanding skills that aren’t taught in conventional curricula and that’s a problem” said Shashank in his pitch. Drawing from his time at BITS Pilani, Shashank believes he can put a dent in this lack by building a Community of Experts with TapChief. The TapChief Community has over 4000 industry experts from 2000+ organizations.
Prior to Seed Stars World, TapChief also the won the #ChaseYourDreams Ideathon held by Mindbatteries in April 2016. TapChief emerged as the winner from 1200 startups to get the backing of PayTm Founder & CEO, Vijay Shekhar Sharma and Rs.1 Cr of his funding as well.
TapChief was founded in Jan 2016 by Shashank Murali along with fellow BITSians Binay Krishna Shivam and Arjun Krishna Vasisht. Before TapChief, Shashank and Binay started Edvice, an on demand tutoring app which was acquired by US based Ed-Tech company, HashLearn and was rebranded to HashLearn Now.
