Tata’s BigBasket subscription service, BBdaily, currently running as a separate app will be merged into the main BigBasket app over the coming months, said a media report. The company currently runs two apps, named, BigBasket and BBdaily. One is for slotted 2-3 hour deliveries (BigBasket Supersaver) and the other one is for 10-20 minute deliveries (BBnow).
But in the upcoming months, BigBasket plans to abandon its disjointed strategy and consolidate all of its products into a single app that would function as a single unit. The tactic is a part of BigBasket's broader shift away from slotted deliveries that take two to three hours to a delivery model that takes ten to twenty minutes, and toward becoming a pure-play rapid commerce company in response to changing consumer expectations, as per media reports.
BBdaily is a crucial part of BigBasket. BBdaily is the company's third-largest division, accounting for about 150 crore of its Rs 1,100–1,200 crore in revenue. The largest is BigBasket Supersaver, which uses a slotted delivery mechanism and generates about Rs 700 crore in income. It makes sense that BigBasket is placing more emphasis on prompt delivery.
Rapid commerce's annualized gross merchandise value (GMV) was estimated by Kotak analysts to be USD 5.5 billion, which represents an incredible growth rate for a market that is just three years old. The market is just going to become hotter.
