In a significant move to enhance India’s manufacturing sector, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) unveiled a strategic partnership with HCLSoftware, a global player in software solutions. The disclosure was made at Vanijya Bhawan, marking a vital component of DPIIT's manufacturing incubation initiative aimed at transforming the startup landscape in India.
The collaboration aims to create an environment where corporate entities actively participate in nurturing manufacturing startups, thereby revolutionising the country’s startup ecosystem. This initiative falls under the broader Startup India program, through which DPIIT has already signed over 80 memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with various industry stakeholders.
Startups participating in this initiative will gain access to the HCL Sync program, designed to provide them with global market exposure. This platform will allow Indian startups to showcase their innovative products and services on an international stage, thereby promoting Indian ingenuity to a wider audience.
The partnership aligns with the government’s vision of positioning India as a national production hub. Key objectives of this initiative include fostering the development of Indian intellectual property by encouraging startups to design unique products tailored to local needs, enhancing product quality by equipping them with the necessary tools and expertise to meet global standards and establishing a robust manufacturing ecosystem through a network of interconnected startups and suppliers.
DPIIT Joint Secretary, Sanjiv Singh, highlighted the necessity of this partnership to establish a sustainable manufacturing ecosystem, stating that HCLSoftware’s expertise and dedication to supporting startups align seamlessly with DPIIT’s vision. Sanjiv noted that through this collaboration, innovation will flourish, and Indian businesses will gain a stronger foothold on the global stage. Outlining the goals of DPIIT’s flagship program, Startup India, Sanjiv reaffirmed DPIIT's commitment to fostering and promoting the nation’s manufacturing ecosystem by motivating and supporting product startups, innovators, and entrepreneurs. This collaboration will significantly contribute to the realisation of India’s 'Make in India' initiative and position India as a global manufacturing hub.
As India seeks to establish itself as a global manufacturing powerhouse, this partnership is expected to play a crucial role in building a vibrant ecosystem that nurtures and accelerates the growth of manufacturing startups across the nation.
