Months after ending his decade-long tenure at LinkedIn, Ashutosh Gupta announced on Friday (June 21) via LinkedIn that he has joined venture capital firm Avataar Venture Partners as an operating partner and head of GTM CoE. Gupta joined the SaaS and B2B technology-focused growth-stage VC firm in May after a brief career break.
During his ten years at LinkedIn, Gupta served as the country manager for India for about half that time. Under his leadership, the platform achieved key milestones such as surpassing 100 million users and launching a Hindi language version.
Before his time at LinkedIn, which he joined in 2013, Gupta was the head of industry and technology services at Google for two years. Over his nearly three-decade-long career, he has held various positions at companies like ICICI Securities, Infosys, and Cognizant, though this is his first involvement with a VC firm.
Founded in 2019 by Nishant Rao, Avataar Venture Partners invests in Indian startups with an annual recurring revenue (ARR) of over USD 15 million. It has backed companies such as RateGain, Amagi, and InsuranceDekho. Its latest investment was a USD 45 million Series D round for SaaS startup Capillary in 2023.
