Panchkula-based P-Tal Punjab Thathera Art Legacy, is not just a brand, it's a testament to the resilience of traditional craftsmanship in the face of modernity. Founded in 2017, P-Tal embarked on a mission to revive India's UNESCO-listed craft form of Thatheras from Amritsar, Punjab.
Crafting For New Gen
From exquisite kitchenware to home decor, each piece reflects the rich legacy of Indian craftsmanship. P-Tal offers a blend of tradition and innovation, specialising in handmade metal products crafted from pure copper, brass and kansa. With a commitment to social impact, P-Tal strives to empower artisans while promoting sustainable living.
A Visionary's Perspective
P-Tal is led by Co-founders; Kirti Goel and Aditya Agrawal. The startup is taking crucial steps in the market. In October 2023, it has secured Rs 4.33 crore in seed funding. The funding was led by Titan Capital with participation from Anicut Capital, Ghazal Alagh (Mamaearth), Sandeep Aggarwal (Droom and Shopclues) and many others.
Kirti Goel, Co-founder of P-Tal, envisions a world where heritage meets modernity seamlessly. She shares, "Our mission is to revive age-old traditions in a contemporary manner, ensuring that people make informed choices for their well-being."
Moreover, she adds, “P-Tal runs on three fundamentals – developing an organised market to promote the craft legacy, creating designs for urban consumers and leveraging contemporary marketing to sell traditional art. In a highly unorganised market of cheap and adulterated utensils, P-Tal stands as a brand of ayurvedic, artisanal and authentic utensils.”
Navigating Challenges
In the ever-evolving landscape of entrepreneurship, P-Tal has faced its share of challenges. Aditya Agrawal, Co-founder of P-Tal, reflects on their journey, "Persistence, passion and patience are our guiding principles. Every rejection has only propelled us towards greater achievements."
Agrawal shares, “With the aim to build P-Tal as a global brand, we are focussing aggressively on penetrating into the US market. With the growing affinity of consumers towards a healthy lifestyle, we aim to target the global markets.”
Supporting Artisans
As P-Tal charts its course towards global recognition, it remains rooted in its commitment to artisanal excellence and social responsibility. With each product, it not only preserves a legacy but also empowers generations of artisans to come.
In a world where trends come and go, P- stands as a timeless symbol of craftsmanship, integrity and resilience. The legacy of Thatheras continues to shine brightly through the endeavours of P-Tal.
