The world has lately turned into a concrete jungle with more manmade structures substituting the nature. The greenery is depleting fast, and in return, the people are turning a blind-eye towards it. However, one cannot ignore the benefits plants provide to the wellbeing.
To solve this problem, Saumya Tiwari and Babita Sinha, the founders of YourGreenCanvas, came up with an interesting solution. Started six years back with intent to bring greenery inside the homes, YourGreenCanvas is one such initiative that provides end-to-end green solutions to cater to the greenery needs of offices and homes. It also promotes nature-made art, commonly known as terrarium. These terrariums come in different shapes, sizes and themes for every occasion. A terrarium is usually a sealable glass container containing soil and plants.
From a small terrarium, both founders gradually moved to landscaping of large places like corporate offices, hotels, restaurants and large houses. They realised that everybody loved the green part but do not have the bandwidth of carrying it home.
YourGreenCanvas currently serves in Bengaluru, Mumbai and recently started in Noida. The major offerings are the terrariums, landscaping services and extensive maintenance services. YourGreenCanvas is also known for its interactive workshops, which it conducts for the corporates. The duo has recently launched a ready-to-use balcony product that can be installed quickly.
“Like any other business, we also had a slow start. The initial investment came out of the savings. We both invested just Rs 2 lakh each as the startup capital. Earlier, we had to convince clients about our products. However, gradually as people became more aware about the benefits of greenery, the demand became favourable. Now, we have started working with interior designers and architects to create green spaces for their clients at the inception stage of the project itself,” shared Tiwary.
YourGreenCanvas has served many big corporates over the years. Some of their clients are IndiQube co-working spaces, TataCliq, Mahindra, Bengaluru office of Hike Messenger and many alike. The duo now wants to focus on clients from the apartment community and hence have designed products to cater to the needs of smaller balconies and indoor spaces.
“We have always been cash positive. It is not that we are running on adrenaline but money. We never felt the need to go out and ask for more money,” mentioned Sinha.
Their marketing strategy focuses on social media amplification, especially paid promotions on Instagram. Word of mouth from their established corporate clients comes as a blessing to them and helps them to be in people’s mind.
Saumya and Babita have come far from where they started. Learning on the job and knowing the nitty-gritty of the business has been an important part of their journeys. They are ambitious, betting big on balconies and plan to have a pan-India presence in years to come with a dream of making YourGreenCanvas synonymous with greenery across the country.
